As children, many of us thrilled to the horror movie-tales of monsters, vampires, witches, and werewolves. As adults, the mysteries of the human mind are what compel our curiosity, fear, and fascination. Thus the appeal of the psychological thriller, which blends elements of suspense and horror with insights into psychology, is often abnormal.
This course will begin with Hitchcock, the master of the genre, and two of his films, Strangers on a Train and Psycho. We will then move on to such classics as Rosemary's Baby, The Silence of the Lambs, The Shining, and the lesser-known but very scary Don't Look Now.
Class participation will be highly encouraged.
