Come learn about the Montgomery County Police Department's Drone as First Responder (DFR) program which began in October 2023 with one site in Downtown Silver Spring. Since then, the program has expanded to five additional sites in White Oak, Downtown Wheaton, Downtown Bethesda, Germantown and Montgomery Village. This program has proven to add as a force multiplier to MCPD, as well as helping to address short staffing issues being experienced by law enforcement agencies nationwide. MCPD DFR has conducted over 5,000 flights for calls for service since 2023. Light continental breakfast is included.

Sergeant Chris Jerman grew up in Montgomery County and joined MCPD in 2010. After spending 13 years as a patrol officer and a member of the District Community Action Team (DCAT) in the Wheaton district, he was promoted to Sergeant in January 2023 and transferred to Bethesda where he spent two years as the supervisor of the Central Business District Team. In December 2025, Sergeant Jerman was selected as the supervisor of the Air Support Unit where he is responsible for the MCPD DFR program, as well as the patrol and tactical drone program.
